Slade Farm United 1-1 Yarnton
Date: 31-Oct-09
Venue: Home
Competition: Oxford Senior League Division 1
Scorers: Sean Masterson
Man of the match: Sam Barker
Supersub Sean Masterson equalised within minutes of joining the action to rescue a point for Slade Farm. With less than ten minutes left on the clock, Masterson rose majestically to meet a cross from Tom Pagan and power home a header, much to the delight of the home support. It was the high-point of a frustrating afternoon for the hosts, whose depleted side lacked the cohesion and quality to merit victory. Yarnton were good value for a point, defending stubbornly and looking increasingly dangerous on the counter attack, and it perhaps wasn't a suprise when they took the lead mid-way through the 2nd half. With the Slade defence at sixes and sevens, Tom Myers found himself in acres of space to score unchallenged from 8 yards out. Half-chances came and went throughout, but despite the late equaliser, the game peetered out into a low-key draw. The game was competitive throughout, but was well refereed by Mr Mott.
