Slade Farm United 5-2 Eynsham Reserves
Date: 13-Feb-10
Venue: Home
Competition: Oxford Senior League Division 1
Scorers: Clack (2), Savin (2), Chambers
Man of the match: Matty Gardner
A youthful Slade Farm produced a fine attacking display to see off a spirited Eynsham side. It was the visitors who had the first chance though, a decent effort from 25 yards clipping the top of the crossbar. Slade took the lead shortly after, Adam Barker playing a defence-splitting pass for Lee Clack to race on to and coolly slot the ball past the keeper. Slade scored a 2nd from a swift attack involving several players ending with Clack finding Dan Savin to score from close range. Eynsham reduced the deficit when Slade were robbed of possession in their own half and Andy Glossup fired home. But Slade added a third before the interval, Lee Clack racing through before delightfully clipping the ball over the keeper - a sublime finish. Eynsham were fortunate on the stroke of half-time when Slade's Matty Gardner was hauled down by the last man when a goal beckoned, but the defender received just a yellow card.
H-T: 3-1.
The second half began with Slade looking to extend their lead, and a fourth goal came courtesy of Dan Savin who smashed the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards. Substitutions from both sides saw the game lose some of it's rhythm but Slade continued to press and sub Keiran Chambers chipped the keeper from the edge of the area to make it 5-1. With 5 minutes to go, Eynsham scored a consolation through Adam Woolford, a fine turn and shot from the edge of the area that flew into the top corner. Slade were comfortable winners, but it was a good contest that produced some good goals.
F-T: 5-2
