Slade Farm United came about in early 1995 during the campaign to save Slade Farm from development. The team comprised of campaign members and was formed for a one off publicity game against Bicester Town Council. Arron Kendall has the honour of notching the first ever Slade Farm goal and the team today still has some of those original members.
The team moved to its famous home at Kings Meadow and played friendly matches for many years, taking part in many astonishing games. As the club grew it formed an u16 side which was entered into the league. The team officially went home, playing its matches at Slade Farm next to the Bure Park development, the team left unbeaten in home league matches at its historic home.
The badge encompasses the motto Eternus Vivus derived from the the final words in the Slade Farm book meaning 'Forever Alive'.
There is a symbol of the Curly Tree - this was the focal point of the campaign being the headquarters and place from which the campaign was run and orchestrated.
The football includes an army hat which originally came from club mascot 'Slade' the Hedgehog which symbolised the struggle of the campaign.
The colour's represent the green of Slade Farm with white for purity which represented the unique untouched habitat.
The badge is shaped like an acorn which is the seed of the oak tree, in Slade Farm itself this represents the Major Oak and brings together all elements of Slade Farm within it. |
