Slade Farm is fully committed to being an active part of the local community and strives to help a variety of causes.
Below are a number of examples of the club working closely with the local community:
Charter Standard
Slade Farm are a Charter Standard club. This is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection. We pass this on to the local community and further afield in many ways. With a few being outlined further down. For more info on Charter Stander click on the link on the menu on the left.
Bicester Community College
- Slade Farm has established an excellent relationship with the college; currently the school’s main pitch is home to its 1st team.
- Slade Farm keep all their equipment at the college and allow dual use of this for PE lessons and clubs, helping to enhance the education of local youngsters
- The club donated £500 worth of Archery equipment to help set up the school’s very successful Archery Club thanks to former Chairman Andrew Chipperfield Taylor
- The club donated £200 towards new football kits for the school and coerced a club sponsor into matching the donation - generating an extra £400 in total
- The club also organised 2 weekends in which they repainted the entire changing room area, vastly improving the facility both for the club and for the school pupils. Many thanks to everyone that got involved and well done for finishing by the deadline.
- The Slade website hosts the BCC Sport Education PE Tables so that pupils can keep up to date with the progress of their team
- The club provides footballs to hand out as prizes at the end of the year to mark pupil progress
Girls in Sport
- This group started at BCC and recently organised a sponsored walk around the perimeter of Bicester to raise funds for the victims of the recent cyclone in Burma. Slade Farm United provided all the marshals for this event, so many thanks to all involved in supporting this.
Slade Soccer School
- Slade recently ran two free days of coaching for local pupils at BCC, teaching them about football fitness, principles of attack, principles of defence, and football diets. Many thanks to Dean, Twig, Terrice, Nick and Owen for two excellent days.
This will now run as an annual event with the next scheduled for the October half term. Details to follow shortly.
Bardwell Special School
- After the recent 24 hour continuous run the club have agreed to donate rugby equipment to the school to help with their PE lessons
Slade Farm Newts
- Each spring KP leads the annual Newt count at Slade Farm, monitoring numbers and the success of the pond program. Many thanks to Chris and Michael Philpott, Jaime and Mark for their help restoring the famous old Slade Newt Pond to its former glory!
Old Kit
- Slade Farm are kindly donating their old 1st team kit to an Orphanage in Africa. Many thanks to Dan Smith who is organising this through his company Tours 4 Sport. Photos to follow shortly
